A Lil' February Present

[Sorry in advance for the lack of punctation...i was flowin']

Living in the past--all of us do it at one point in our lives. "What if this?" "What if that?" Regret has its way of digging a hole in the back of our minds. Sometimes it stays there unconsciously, while other times it presents itself daily. What we need to understand is that life, our bodies, our minds--they are always moving forward. At times it may seem like we are stagnant, sometimes it may even feel like we are backtracking, but each day we are learning. We are learning from others and most of all, we are learning from our own actions. I say actions because as we know, every action has a reaction, sometimes the reactions are good and sometimes they are bad. However, calling something a mistake, is well, a mistake in itself. Mistakes are just learning experiences. They are sneaky little gifts from life--they are the person in middle school who teased you, but secretly liked you--they are beautiful gifts wrapped in ugly wrapping paper.

Looking back on something and thinking it would have been perfect if *blank* happened is senseless. We do not know and will never know if it would have turned out to be perfect because it never happened. END.OF.STORY. Some like to say "it did not happen because it was not meant to be." If that makes sense then live by that, but for the love of guacamole do not dwell on it. Yes, sometimes it is easier said than done, but aiming to live in the present is something we should all do more of. The future is unknown and the past is in the past. We need to live each day to our best ability. We need to take joy in our current accomplishments instead of trying to compete with our former ones.

It is over a month past New Years and I think I finally found my New Years Resolution. My New Years Resolution has been with me every day, but it has taken me 24 years to acknowledge it. My New Years Resolution is NOW.
